press release: Grammy-winning Southern blues rockers The Kentucky Headhunters will celebrate the release of LIVE AT THE RAMBLIN' MAN FAIR with a live performance on Friday, February 22, 2019 at the Gobbler Theater in Johnson Creek. The band -- guitarist/vocalist Richard Young, his brother drummer Fred Young, guitarist Greg Martin and bassist/vocalist Doug Phelps --- had never before been to Europe in their 30-plus year career. This set, recorded at The Ramblin' Man Fair in Maidstone, UK, captures them at the height of their powers. The album closes with three recently rediscovered studio tracks from the legendary MEET ME IN BLUESLAND sessions featuring late blues piano icon Johnnie Johnson (known for his seminal piano work driving Chuck Berry's most famous songs).
Ticket price: $42-$52
"Rowdy, twanging, wild-eyed Southern rockers perform songs that insist on down-home roots. The Headhunters bring a sense of bar-band recklessness, riffing with unchecked muscle, combining country roots with ferocious, bluesy hard rock." --The New York Times
"Substantial, guitar-driven Southern rock…crunching guitars and aggressive percussion." --Rolling Stone
"One of the best and most influential country rock bands. Seamless harmonies, genre-bending, Clapton-esque guitar work. Potent and unique." --NPR Music
