Ladyscissors
Madison quartet Ladyscissors mashes up ’50s vocal groups, ’60s pop and ’70s punk elements into their own sound. With rockin’ gospel revivalists Reverend Rectifier & the Sinners.
press release: Ladyscissors will be releasing their second CD, "To The Nines" on Saturday, March 11 at High Noon Saloon. The new album features mainly original songs with a couple covers - Modest Mouse and Heather Abney (Madison singer/songwriter, Catalog Babies).
Showing off their lovely vocal arrangements, the album ranges from REM-like pop to moody, hypnotic rock, a la, early Velvet Underground. Beautiful female harmonies often float over crunchy guitars with rapidly delivered lyrics that feel urgent and politically potent. And catchy. The record is catchy. Even the background vocals will get stuck in your head.
They have released a music video to promote the album, "Hot Potato Sweet Potato" which is directed by band member, Stephanie Rearick.

"The [quartet] (Stephanie Rearick – drums and vocals; Lorrie Hurckes – guitar and vocals; Brent George – guitar; Anne Bull – bass and vocals) blend those late-Fifties-style vocal elements and early-Sixties instrumental references, protecting the ethos of the not-too-studied brand of rock musician that delivers it straight from the gut while spiking the punch with a dose of punk raunchiness. As the name might suggest, Ladyscissors keeps the music fun and the production decidedly real." - Local Sounds Magazine
