Ladyscissors
Three local purveyors of indie pop and rock converge for a night of shimmery guitars and vibrant vocals. The openers, Able Baker, take a gentle, refined approach on their 2017 project, Fall Through Sparks. Gentle Brontosaurus is livelier, employing a rich variety of textures and instruments. And finally, Ladyscissors builds on the legacy of proto-indie acts like Velvet Underground on tracks like “Figure It Out.”
press release: Channeling the jangly garage rock vibe from Velvet Underground to Beat Happening, Ladyscissors three female vocalists deliver catchy arrangements that nod to both doo-wop and early REM. Oh, yeah, shimmery guitars, too!
Gentle Brontosaurus has been playing melodious indie-pop since 2014, sounding simultaneously small enough to fit between Belle & Sebastian and The Decemberists on your mixtape, and big enough to play summer festivals.
Able Baker will remind you why indie rock is a thing, with their intricate lyrics, cathartic melodies, and guitars lines that twine and crunch. Tim Anderson also plays with Combat Naps, and recently contributed to the soundtrack of the musical A Serpent's Tooth.
