Left of Left Center: "Spirits to Enforce"
Goodman Community Center-Ironworks 149 Waubesa St., Madison, Wisconsin 53704
press release:
Spirits to Enforce
By Mickle Maher
Directed by Ned O'Reilly and Sara Beth Hahner
The Fathom Town Enforcers need your support! No, not in the fight against Professor Cannibal—we are quite certain that the reports of his escape are greatly exaggerated. What we need today is support for an even more important project: a production of The Tempest by William Shakespeare!
Left of Left Center proudly presents Spirits to Enforce by Mickle Maher. It's the story of a dozen unlikely superheroes who have hung up their capes and tights, and turned instead to the arts.
Why has Memory Lass turned her back on Fathom? Why is The Pleaser nowhere to be found? Why are The Silhouette's shadow puppets running rampant? It's because The Enforcers have completely abandoned their duties and spend all of their time preparing for The Tempest.
When the play begins, our heroes are in the midst of an exhausting days-long telethon, trying in vain to find someone -- anyone -- willing to buy a ticket and support the play.
Instead of fighting Professor Cannibal and Cry Baby, The Enforcers are familiarizing themselves with iambic pentameter. They would rather recreate that one perfect day, centuries ago, when spirits openly roamed the island serving the wizard Prospero.
Spirits to Enforce is directed by Ned O'Reilly (“Widescreen”, “Thornton Wilder and Companions”) and Sara Beth Hahner (“Beta Blockers”, “Eleemosynary”)
The ensemble includes some of Madison's finest Shakespearean and comedic performers, with the talents of Benjamin Barlow, Jason Compton, Katie Erdmann, Michael Fleischman, Emmaline Friederichs, Ian Hathway, Annie Jay, Laura Kochanowski, Bryan Metrish, Sam O'Reilly, Laura Paulson, and Britton Rea.
Reserve seats now at http://www.leftofleftcenter.com/tickets . Admission is a suggested $10 contribution at the door.
Running time 90 minutes, no intermission.
Left of Left Center is barnstorming Spirits to Enforce in a tour through Madison and surrounding cities, performing at a different venue every night. This model was a great success for the company's debut production, Beta Blockers.
