media release: Critically-acclaimed Canadian singer, songwriter, and guitarist Leith Ross (they/them) unveils their long-awaited sophomore album I Can See The Future, out Sept. 19 via Republic Records. Produced by GRAMMY® Award-winning artist, producer, and songwriter Rostam, the project showcases Ross’ unfiltered and intimate storytelling.
Across its 13 tracks, I Can See The Future captures Ross at their most expansive and unguarded yet. Pairing deeply personal lyricism with Rostam’s dynamic production, the album blends folk-rooted intimacy with indie and alternative textures to create a sound that is both raw and refined. It reflects on love, heartbreak, and identity while also looking forward with a sense of resilience and hope. The result is Ross’ most fully realized work to date.
At the heart of the release is the standout new track “Point Of View.” Layering gently strummed acoustic guitar over a raw drumbeat, Ross delivers one of their most vulnerable performances with the lyric: “I hate to make it all about me, but I don’t know love from any other point of view.”
The album also includes the previously released singles “Stay” (featuring vocals from Dijon), title track “(I Can See) The Future,” and “Grieving.” Collectively, these songs have set the stage for the album’s arrival and introduced listeners to the record’s range and emotional depth. The album has already garnered early critical acclaim from the likes of V Magazine, CLASH Magazine, Queerty, and Exclaim!, who praised, “Ross has a gift for making the little things feel larger than life.” Far Out Magazine added, “With a voice that just hits right at the heart, Leith Ross could move a listener to tears just by singing a shopping list, but with lyrics this moving too, there’s no holding the waterworks back.”
In support of the album, Ross will embark on their I Can See The Future Headline Tour across North America this fall. Kicking off with two back-to-back hometown shows at Winnipeg’s The Park Theatre on October 17th and 18th, the tour will continue through November with marquee stops, including Brooklyn Steel in New York on October 29th and El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles on November 18th.
I Can See The Future marks a bold new chapter for Ross and is the follow-up to their Juno Award-nominated breakthrough debut To Learn (2023) and its deluxe version To Learn, More. Released to widespread praise, NMEdeclared them “a voice for their generation” and “Gen Z’s new favorite indie songwriter,” while The FADER described them as “your new obsession.” To date, Ross has amassed over half a billion streams, toured with the likes of Lord Huron, Bahamas, Andy Shauf, and Helena Deland, and sold out headline shows across the globe.
