The author of the New York Times bestseller The Empathy Exams (Graywolf Press) is back with a genre-bending exploration of addiction, The Recovering (Little, Brown and Company). Jamison’s book investigates artists, including David Foster Wallace, who were crippled by addiction, while addressing her own struggles with dependency. She writes with clarity and sympathy, connecting the theme to the struggle to find meaningful connections with our peers. The event is part of the Wisconsin Book Festival.
