press release: Lisa's exhibit features photos of Madison's Lake Wingra and its surroundings that were taken around sunrise.
"Many were shot from my kayak. All the photos are digitally manipulated - some more so, some less. Some juxtapose locations and events that do not meet in objective space so they are not literal representations of what I saw; they are reflections on what I seek," Lisa said.
"Many of the photos include birds. But, while I seek to emulate the responsible practices of my nature photographer friends, I do not think of myself as a nature photographer. My birds are silhouettes and symbols, not fully feathered animals. They represent to me, as they perhaps did to the native peoples who explored and valued Lake Wingra, journeys and seasons, time and passages."
Lisa will hold an informal "artist's reception" at the Fluno Center Gallery 1-4 pm, Saturday, March 5.
The Fluno Center is located at 601 University Ave. on the UW-Madison campus Fluno Center and is the newest exhibit space for local photographic artists.
