Madison Christian Giving Fund Kick Off
Upper House 365 East Campus Mall, Suite 200, Madison, Wisconsin 53715
Press release:
New Madison Christian Giving Fund Launches With an Annual Giving Campaign
Kick Off Event is Scheduled for June 18, 2015
Christian philanthropists are coming together to support organizations meeting Madison's most important needs, like the achievement gap, unemployment, poverty and racism, through the Madison Christian Giving Fund. A kick off event for the organization and its 2015 Annual Giving Campaign has been planned for June 18th at 5:00pm at Upper House on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus.
"Many faith-based organizations and non-profits are making measurable strides for good in our community, but struggle to expand their missions because they are faith-based and therefore not eligible for certain sources of funds," says Scott Haumersen, chair of the Madison Christian Giving Fund.
The Madison Christian Giving Fund will launch their Annual Giving Campaign for 2015 with a fundraising goal of $200,000 to support such organizations. Donors can join and pledge support to the Fund which supports initiatives focused on evangelism, human needs, social justice, and children & youth. Of the $200,000 goal, the Madison Christian Giving Fund has already raised $75,000.
"This initiative began with discussions of the need to stand in the gap for faith-based ministries and was launched quietly two years ago with the support of area Christian leaders,” says Haumersen.
The Fund provides annual grants based on an evaluation process that measures impact, leverage and reach. In the past two years, grants totaling $100,000 were awarded to causes including chaplaincy services for Tellurian, restorative justice programs at Madison Urban Ministry, Lifest at Brat Fest, minority scholarship programs at Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Women of Excellence and the Boys & Girls Club of Dane County among others.
An informational tent will be at the Lifest Stage at Brat Fest over Memorial Day Weekend at Willow Island.
The Madison Christian Giving Fund is part of the National Christian Foundation which has served generous givers by mobilizing billions of dollars for ministries and faith-based organizations. In 2015, NCF granted over $673 million to more than 14,000 charities – 31% more than the previous year.
