Madison Schools and MSCR Closed
media release: A Winter Storm Warning is in effect from 7 p.m. tonight until 4 p.m. tomorrow, with heavy snow, mixed precipitation and high winds forecasted overnight and through the morning.
With the safety of our students and staff firmly in mind, all Madison Metropolitan School District schools will be closed and programs cancelled tomorrow, Monday, March 16, 2026.
Though snow has yet to begin falling in many areas, we are making this call now to provide families as much notice as possible, with the best information available to us at this time.
To clarify:
School will not be in session.
After-school activities have been canceled.
Early childhood and 4K programming is canceled.
All MSCR programs, activities and external MMSD facility rentals for Monday are canceled.
Athletic events, practices, and school co-curricular activities are canceled.
This will be a “traditional” weather-related closure, not an “at home” learning day.
Monday’s Board of Education Meeting to Be Held Virtually
Although schools will be closed, the Board of Education meeting scheduled for 6 p.m., Monday, will continue as scheduled and be hosted online.
For information on how we make decisions about weather-related closings, visit mmsd.org/weather.
