Madison Senior Center 330 W. Mifflin St., Madison, Wisconsin 53703
press release: During the pandemic, the Madison Senior Center pivoted to provide book clubs, exercise classes, concerts, learning opportunities and other fun activities, all on line. September is National Senior Center Month, and the Madison Senior Center is celebrating these shared experiences that deliver vital connections to aging well for older adults.
From financial planning workshops to cooking classes and line dancing to technology classes, the Senior Center is a community nexus where seniors find friendship, meaning, and purpose. To share the power of these connections, join us to celebrate Senior Center Month, at our Welcome Back Open House at 10:00 am, Wednesday, September 15. Scheduled activities will include a strolling magician (James the Magician), refreshments, and a proclamation from the Mayor’s office presented by Deputy Mayor Katie Crawley and Deputy Mayor Dr. Linda Vakunta.
Senior Center Month emphasizes the tremendous potential that senior centers deliver in their communities, including programming that empowers older adults to holistically age well and strengthen mind, body, spirit, and community connections. Senior centers offer a vibrant, action-packed combination of in-person, virtual and hybrid programs. For example: Nutrition Sites, Balance Classes, Cultural Programs, and Volunteer Opportunities.
