About the artist: Since late 2022, Mary Mullen has been making her own paper flock of chickens using the colored part of address labels that come incessantly through the mail for free. These hens, roosters, pullets and chicks speak in shades, textures, breeds, and postures bright and varied as all the myriad chicken cooing, clucking, cackling, and crowing you could hear in a real flock. She has also created address label collage pictures of other fowl, cats, dogs, people, and landscapes. As a former high school and elementary school teacher, Mary was introduced to art as a child by her mother who got the entire family involved in the Wisconsin Regional Art Program. Mary has also entered her label collage art in the WRAP exhibits and fundraisers, winning awards each year she's entered.
