Before Jonathan Demme’s The Silence of the Lambs, writer/director Michael Mann first brought Thomas Harris’ popular series of crime novels to the screen with this alluring adaptation of Red Dragon. Retreating to a quiet life with his family after taking down the infamous Hannibal Lecktor (Cox), FBI “manhunter” Will Graham (Petersen) returns to work following the emergence of an enigmatic new killer. An extraordinarily stylish modern thriller, Manhunter is an immersive portrait of Graham’s obsessive pursuit. Mann has declared this new 4K restoration to be the final, definitive version of his landmark procedural.
