Pianist Manni Lin is pursuing a doctoral degree at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, majoring in Piano Performance and minoring in Early Music. Prior to attending UW-Madison, she earned a bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance from Oberlin Conservatory and a master’s degree in Piano Performance and Literature from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
She started her professional piano career at age 9 at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. There she received training in many other fields of music, including music theory and music history. She has performed in many cities in China, including Shanghai, Suzhou, Fuzhou, and Xiamen. Lin has taught privately since 2012, instructing students of all skill levels and ages. She insists on giving her students the most professional piano education, including knowledge of music theory.
Besides piano, Lin is also a harpsichordist and a fortepiano player. She has been studying early instruments for 8 years and was admitted to the Artist Diploma program at the University of Illinois. She has a deep understanding of music from the Baroque and Classical eras.
