Marc Broussard's new album, Time is a Thief, finds the acclaimed Louisiana-based singer/songwriter delivering an infectious ten-song set filled with gritty, rootsy hooks and dance floor grooves, all wrapped around his fervent vocals. Produced by Grammy-winning guitarist/songwriter/producer Eric Krasno (Soulive, Lettuce) and Grammy-nominated producer/guitarist Jeremy Most (Emily King), Time is a Thief exudes a funky, soulful sound with rich, diverse sonic textures that set it apart from Broussard's previous recordings. His first album of original music since 2017's Easy to Love, Time Is a Thief, is out now via his Artist Tone Label.
Time Is a Thief arose from Broussard's unique collaboration with longtime friend, co-writer Krasno and Most. The two played a pivotal role in helping to realize Broussard's vision for his new album, from their multi-faceted skills as producers to playing nearly all the instruments on Time's ten tracks. "When I started recording for the new album, I knew things would be different," Broussard reflects. "Working with producers Jeremy Most and Eric Krasno, it was incredibly exciting to write in a style that felt like I'd discovered another aspect of what I could do."
The album opens with two early Broussard/Krasno co-writes – the horn-blasted, bold and brass delivery of "Fire" and the gritty yet smooth "Mood" – originally released as singles in 2022. Broussard credits Krasno, who wrote or co-wrote seven of the ten tracks, for giving the album a sense of continuity. Broussard explains, "I've never been one to pigeonhole myself, so my writing tends to wander in different directions. Krasno is more deliberate, and his writing feels like a natural extension from one to another. It's the first time in my career that I've made an album with a well-defined character that is easily identifiable upon first listen."
Standout tracks include the title song, "Time Is a Thief," showcasing Broussard's emphatic vocals, supported by Eric Krasno on guitars, piano, and percussion; Jeremy Most on bass, Rhodes piano, and backing vocals; and Lorenzo Molina (The Mavericks) on trumpet, adding a jazz-inspired Latin-style touch to the song. The track exudes a soulful vibe highlighted by the bite of brass, leading to a captivating refrain. "Give You The World" is an uplifting single about giving unconditionally. Co-written by Broussard, Travis Meadows, and Alphonse Ardoin, it presents a soulful Caribbean rhythm that showcases Broussard's passionate vocals and heartfelt lyrics, culminating in a joyous chorus. At the same time, the mix of Krasno's blazing guitar solo and Most's dark-infused piano lends a haunted, noirish quality to "Carry My Name."
Time Is a Thief follows Broussard's 2023 highly-acclaimed philanthropic album, S.O.S.4 Blues For Your Soul, collaborating with blues icon Joe Bonamassa. The distinctive collection of blues and soul classics debuted at Number 1 on the Billboard Blues Albums Chart. It is the fourth volume in Broussard's ongoing independent S.O.S. (Save our Soul) charity album series.

Brooklyn based singer-songwriter Kendra Morris returns with what's next... a new tune called 'In My House.' Recorded live in Loveland, Ohio and co-produced by Leroi Conroy and Kendra herself, the track is a sonic exploration of chaos and catharsis. "It's an overlap of my messy little New York apartment and the clutter that’s constantly evolving in my own head," Kendra explains, "They both can get pretty messy. However, they’re all my own and I get to take a step back, see them for what they are and then clean up and move forward. I can’t really find peace until my messes are cleaned up, but they are necessary to me being the person that I am."
Musically, 'In My House' pulls in a wide range of influences, from '60s soul doo-wop to the flow of Busta Rhymes. The rhythm and melody of the track came to life as Kendra was messing around with her Casio and walking around her neighborhood saying tongue twisters. 'In My House' was recorded live with all vintage guitars and amps and ran through the Tascam 388. Kendra's vocals were tracked in one single take.
'In My House' marks the start of a new journey for Kendra. We hope you'll play along...
Kendra's new single "In My House" is out now (March 12th) via Karma Chief Records. This is the lead single from her forthcoming studio album due later this fall.
