“My work explores the most traditional and nostalgic kind of painting of the most worthy subject matter—people and nature. Artists throughout history have examined ways to create illusions, which are a kind of ‘capture’ of both the subject and viewer. My greatest pleasure is derived from sorting out how to translate what I see into a painterly representation of reality, with brushwork, form, and color. My paintings demonstrate a simultaneous respect for my subject and a love of the art of painting. “
