Matt Bellassai
press release: Due to overwhelming demand for the Internet’s favorite complainer, we were able to add a second show with Matt Bellassai, star of Buzzfeed’s “Whine About It.” The show is at 10 pm on Friday, April 15 in Shannon Hall.
The format of the second show will be identical to the first. Matt will choose questions to answer from those submitted by students and other fans. Ten submitters will win the opportunity to meet Matt. Submit your question here.
All tickets will be available for purchase online here starting at 8 am on Wednesday, February 24. UW-Madison student tickets are $5, Wisconsin Union Members $15, UW Faculty/Staff and General Public $20.
In the likely event of another sold out show, if additional seats become available they will be placed on sale to everyone (on a first come, first served basis) Friday, April 15th at 11:30am online or at the Box Office.
The goal of all Wisconsin Union Theater events - programmed by the student-run WUD Performing Arts Committee - is to provide access to the performing arts for UW students. However, we are thrilled that this second show will allow us to whine about it with even larger audiences.
Students are welcome to submit questions for Matt Bellassai to address via the Wisconsin Union Theater’s Facebook page. Bellassai is well-known for his Buzzfeed web series “Whine About It,” and now you can see him at the Wisconsin Union Theater! His weekly episodes are comprised of downing a bottle of wine at his desk while discussing, and complaining about, various topics. He has amassed 3.5 million views on his weekly videos in which he gets his topics from co-workers. He has complained about what kind of people he can’t stand to holidays he hates and will have you in hysterics each episode.
Bellassai was hired by Buzzfeed in 2012 as an editorial fellow after receiving his bachelor’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University. Now a hired, full-time employee, he has a blog names “Literally Matt.” He won a People’s Choice Award in 2016 for Favorite Social Media Star and is sure to continue in successful online endeavors.
This show is presented by the Wisconsin Union Theater’s Performing Arts Committee.
