MUSIC FOR SAXOPHONE AND ORGAN – Friday, May 22, 2015 - 7:30 p.m.
Saxophonist Matthew Sintchak is an avid supporter of contemporary music, having commissioned/premiered over 50 works. In addition to solo concerts, he performs regularly with the Ancia Saxophone Quartet, the Sonict Duo (saxophone, video, and electronics), and the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. Performances have taken him throughout the US, Canada, China, Japan, Korea, and Europe. Sintchak studied at the Eastman School of Music, the Paris Conservatory, and the New England Conservatory. He is a Conn-Selmer and Vandoren artist and has recorded for the Naxos, Innova, University of Iowa Composers’ and Zimbel labels. Sintchak is a Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

Sarah Read Gehrenbeck is Organist and Music Director at First English Lutheran Church in Whitewater, Wisconsin. She is currently a doctoral candidate in organ performance at Indiana University, Bloomington, where she earned her Master’s in Organ Performance with an emphasis on church music. Her teachers have included Marilyn Keiser, Christopher Young, Peter Sykes, and Elisabeth Wright. Ms. Gehrenbeck holds a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Boston University. In demand as a collaborative artist, she maintains a busy schedule as an accompanist. A dedicated pedagogue, she has a private studio of piano and organ students in Whitewater where she resides with her husband, Robert, and their two young sons.
