Mautz Block Redevelopment
press release: 6:30 pm, Tuesday, December 11, Design Center 945 E Washington Ave.
Neighborhood meeting Redevelopment of the Mautz block
Please join Alder Ledell Zellers and me for a neighborhood meeting where Curt and Matt Brink and Potter Lawson Inc. will present the current design plans for the next phase of development for the 900 block of E. Washington Avenue, former home of Mautz Paint. The next phase will include an 11-story office building with commercial space along E. Washington Avenue and a multistory parking structure in the center of the block.
The project is a permitted use for the site. It will require conditional use approval because it is more than five stories and will require the demolition of the buildings at 910 E. Main Street, 924 E. Main Street, and 945 E. Washington Avenue. The Telephone Building at 945 E. Main Street will remain. A formal city land use submittal is planned for January with a potential Plan Commission meeting in February or March. Because the site is in Urban Design District 8, the project will also be reviewed by the Urban Design Commission.
