media release: Medium Build—a.k.a. acclaimed singer-songwriter Nick Carpenter—is debuting his latest single “In My Gut” with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1.
The song hails from Medium Build’s much-anticipated forthcoming album King of Having Fun, out September 4 on slowplay/Island Records.
“I wrote this song with one of my favorite artists, Annika Bennett. We were exchanging stories about our childhoods and the way our parents handled conflict. Harping on the way our fathers performed toughness or avoided hard conversations.” Nick continues, “We explored how we inherited these traits and the new ways we meet conflict in our own lives. I still don’t really know what this song is about, but I think it’s my favorite.”
“In My Gut” follows the recent album tracks “Armor” and “Home Depot.”
The new record was recorded live in-studio with Carpenter’s closest friends and collaborators,
including musical director Paul Rogers, engineer Jimmy Manfield, “atmospheric moodmaker” Laiko a.k.a Jake LiBassi and more, often approaching each song from a perspective of playing live in bigger rooms and focusing on “rock and roll moments.” Carpenter explores multiple genres with country, rock, indie and more across the LP’s 14 tracks. King of Having Fun is Carpenter’s first full length album since 2024’s much-lauded Country, which saw extensive critical acclaim from Paper, Billboard, The Tennessean, NME and many others, while Rolling Stone highlighted Carpenter in their “Future 25” feature.
Medium Build is on the road supporting Mumford & Sons this August ahead of a fall headline tour. See below for a list of dates. On September 5, he makes his official debut at Nashville’s legendary Grand Ole Opry as part of the “Opry 100” celebration.
Born and raised in Georgia, Carpenter now splits his time between hometowns in Nashville, Tennessee, and Anchorage, Alaska. Creating Medium Build in 2015, Carpenter has gone on to release five studio albums to date. He has become a favorite across the creative community, with artists including John Mayer, Zach Bryan, Elton John, boygenius and more counting themselves amongst his fans. He has toured with the likes of Role Model, Tyler Childers, FINNEAS, Holly Humberstone and Briston Maroney, and found himself in a highly coveted slot on Zane Lowe’s Artists to Watch 2024 list. In 2025, he was nominated for Emerging Act of the Year at the 24th Annual Americana Honors & Awards.
Acclaimed singer-songwriter Bella White has announced new tour dates this fall in support of her new album A Sign In The Weather, out now on Rounder Records.
White is confirmed for an AmericanaFest Showcase, followed by additional new dates supporting Medium Build, kicking off October 13th in Detroit.
Released in June, A Sign In The Weather has earned praise for its intimate storytelling, atmospheric arrangements and artistic growth, capturing White at a pivotal moment in her career. Americana Highways called it “timeless” while No Depression hailed it as “mesmerizing.” In an in-depth feature with People.com, the outlet noted, “Beyond its emotional content, one constant in the new project is a sense of searching. This is perhaps most evident by White's exploration of genre, and quickness to dispel anything that puts her in a creative corner.” Watch Bella’s intimate Relix Session performing songs from the new album HERE.
Made with Bella’s close-knit circle of collaborators A Sign In The Weather was recorded in a shotgun house along the Mississippi River. The music was profoundly influenced by the landscape, and brims with vivid storytelling, lush arrangements and emotionally resonant performances. Co-produced by White and Ross Farbe (Esther Rose, Drugdealer) the album’s nuanced sound spotlights White’s enchanting vocals and graceful guitar work.
Born and raised in Calgary, Bella White developed a deep affinity for Appalachian folk, country, and bluegrass at an early age. As she moved across North America—living in Vancouver, Boston, and New Orleans—she honed a sophisticated sound that blends traditional bluegrass and Appalachian roots with modern Americana, revealing a depth well beyond her 25 years. Hailed by NPR as “a voice for the ages,” White brings striking emotional honesty to her work. Her debut album Just Like Leaving (2020) and its follow-up Among Other Things (2023) earned widespread critical acclaim, with praise from Rolling Stone, Consequence, and American Songwriter. Her music has appeared in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes and, more recently, in multiple episodes of The Waterfront. A rapidly rising presence, White has taken the stage at the Grand Ole Opry, SXSW, Stagecoach, and the Newport Folk Festival and has toured with notable artists including Dierks Bentley, Tyler Childers, and The Red Clay Strays.
