Michael W. Smith
Michael W. Smith was among the first contemporary Christian artists (along with Amy Grant) to cross into mainstream pop in a big way, with early-'90s hits “Place in This World” and “I Will Be Here for You.” His commercial success faded, but he never stopped releasing music — including orchestral, worship, duet and Christmas albums. Throughout his five-decade career, Smith has won multiple Grammy, Dove and American Music Awards, and was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 2008. Regardless of your beliefs, he’s remained a musical force to be reckoned with.
