The Misanthrope

media release: Edgewood University Theatre presents a special outdoor production of Moliere’s The Misanthrope. This classic crackles with wit as it exposes the absurdities of polite society. Alceste, a man determined to tell the unvarnished truth, finds himself hopelessly entangled with Celimene, a dazzling socialite whose charm is matched only by her talent for gossip. When her secret letters ignite scandal, Alceste must confront the gap between his ideals and the messy realities of love and human folly. This celebrated translation brings Moliere’s sharp humor and timeless insight into hypocrisy, desire, and integrity to vibrant life.

This production will be performed in the Amphitheatre at The Stream, outdoors. We do not cancel performances for chilly temperatures or light rain. Please plan and dress accordingly.

Tickets are $20 for General Admission and $10.00 for Students/Seniors. Tickets are available online.
