press release: Clawhammer picking style, named for the claw-like shape of the picking hand and the hammer fingering on the fretboard, is primarily used for banjo, but has been picked up over the years by guitarists the likes of Doc Watson, John Lennon and Neil Young. The technique requires a concentrated effort and a whole lot of chops. With more than two million views on YouTube and features in Bluegrass Now, Flatpicking Guitar, and Acoustic Guitar magazines, it’s no wonder Molly Tuttle is the youngest well-known clawhammer style guitar picker out there.
