Monstersongs is a different take on the spooky side of October. This rock opera from Music Theatre of Madison draws on the uncanny feel of certain graphic novels, adds a soundtrack befitting a rock musical, and incorporates technology for a spellbinding exploration of the psyches of monsters — the witch, the troll, the zombie, the mummy.

Music Theatre of Madison (MTM) was founded in 2006 to provide thought-provoking, professional musical theatre pieces in Madison, going beyond the standard musical theatre canon and bringing a new way of looking at musicals. Past shows have included numerous city, state, regional, and world premieres as well as seldom-performed gems and reimagined classics. MTM also has worked hard to connect to the community through outreach at schools, retirement homes, and libraries, and often includes special guests for talkbacks and lectures.
This year, MTM celebrates its 20th anniversary with four offerings. It’s an exciting and also, quite honestly, scary time to do it. The world is more expensive and we want to keep our ticket costs reasonable so that as many people as possible can enjoy our work. At the same time, we want to keep increasing salaries for actors, creative team, and crew. We have always relied on the generosity of the community and that’s what’s gotten us to 20 years!
To help us celebrate, we hope you’ll consider a gift of any size to MTM’s 20th Anniversary Fund. This fund will allow us to hire additional people, increase salaries, expand our footprint, and perform our first show in the Overture Center’s Playhouse.
Thank you for taking a chance on us! We can't wait to see you at the theater!
