Mortified Live
The Bur Oak 2262 Winnebago St., Madison, Wisconsin 53704
Mortified features readers sharing artifacts from their teen years that require a bit of courage to share; it has spread from live shows in 20-plus cities around the world to radio (via This American Life) to a long-running podcast. And now it's coming to Wisconsin courtesy of Eric Garneau, a producer for the Chicago chapter who now lives in Madison. Garneau will be a reader for the debut show, along with Lauren Manston, Tara Ptasnik, Nick Sansone, Haley Schulz and Rob Thomas. Tickets at theburoakmadison.com.

media release: Five brave souls are set to bare their teenage secrets on stage at the local debut of comedy collective Mortified. Already a hit in over 20 cities worldwide -- from Austin to Amsterdam, Portland to Paris -- Mortified stars adults reading aloud their most embarrassing teenage diary entries, poems, love letters, lyrics and notes in front of total strangers. Currently celebrating its 20th year, the stage show is the longest-running project of its kind and is a contributor to the acclaimed radio/TV series, This American Life. The upcoming event will be recorded for consideration in Mortified’s podcast, which attracts over a half-million listeners a month. Among the local discoveries ready to be unearthed? A script to a never-before-seen Home Alone sequel written by a seven-year-old with his dad, and a journal of sexual discovery via the Buffy the Vampire Slayer character of Willow.
