press release: The debut album from Motel Breakfast is the culmination of three years of writing, performing, and recording. Holding the long-distance band together (they’ve lived in three different cities since day one) while holding jobs, finishing school, and maintaining personal relationships has been anything but easy, but they've seen it through to complete their first full-length.
Finding the right musical conduit was key to the band getting this album together. The perfect fit was found in musician and producer Andy Goitia (of Milwaukee's Sleepy Gaucho). Goitia led the band into tape recording sessions in the summer of 2019 to capture these songs, leaning into the warmth and raw edges of analog to capture the band’s live energy. With the aid of a wide array of musical gear offered by the studios, as well as a handful of friends who sporadically lent their talents, the band worked through these 11 songs over four long weekends.
The resulting album packages together the anxieties of learning who you are with the pressure of maintaining who you've been. It captures the emotion delivered by every player, the honesty writ into every word, and the experiences held by every bandmember during the defining years from 18-22. They've put all they have into this album, and they hope you can see some of yourself in it too.
