Murder by Death, 2015.
Sunday, Nov. 13, High Noon Saloon, 8 pm
Murder By Death is a talented band, but when frontman Adam Turla opens his mouth, watch out. With a voice as deep as the earth’s core, Turla helps turn every show into an almost religious experience. Imagine the voice of God speaking to you over a kickass blend of goth-tinged alternative country. The band last released Big Dark Love in 2015. With DIY power-pop queen Laura Stevenson.
Presented by True Endeavors. $18 ($16 adv.; ages 18+).
press release: Over the course of a nearly 15-year career, the band Murder by Death has taken a leading role in a growing effort to unite indie rock with country and folk. But they’ve also released plenty of music that defies their reputation as just twangy roots rockers… the song “Strange Eyes,” in which they tap into the same reserve of acid-fried energy that powers psych-rock bands like Spiritualized and the Black Angels, adding some intriguing drone to the mix before exploding the whole thing with some rousingly triumphant guitar heroics.
