Mutual Aid Solidarity Summit
media release: March 18-19 Humans United in Mutual Aid Networks (HUMANs) will host our next quarterly Solidarity Summit where we come together across our locations and share knowledge, inspiration, skills and more. All on zoom here.
This blog post will be where we keep updated information, so feel free to share the link.
The theme is Deep and Wide – we’ll enjoy the opportunity to both expand and deepen our networks.
Saturday will focus on current partners and local work. Catch up on recent progress, update action maps, solidify networks and plans and how we can showcase everything the next day when we’ll invite more of the public.
Saturday March 18, 8-10am CST: Neighborocracy learning session. Learn from Joseph Rathinam how Neighborocracy has been a tool to organize enormous numbers of neighborhoods in India to solve difficult problems and build beautiful solutions, block by block. Learn how UK partners aim to adapt it to their context, and dream about how these frameworks could support your own mutual aid work.
Saturday March 18, 10am-12 CST: Solidarity Summit Action Map Part II. Build on the Action Map we started at our previous solidarity summit, and move listings and connections into real-world exchange networks.
Local sites are encouraged to host your own get-togethers later on Saturday, and invite newcomers to the Sunday meetups.
Madisonians! We'll have a party, art opening, and Collaboration Celebration at the Social Justice Center 8-9:30pm. Invite your friends!
Sunday March 19, 10am-12 CST Solidarity Action Map building with newcomers – we’ll present what’s happening for newcomers to see, and invite them to add themselves into the mix.
Sunday March 19, 12-2pm CST Solidarity Economy Principles session – This is external to the summit, and if you’re with a related organization you can register yourself – here’s the link to the form that needs to be filled out – or join via our HUMANs registration, instructions to come.
Sunday March 19, 2-4pm CSTWe’ll host an open-space session where people are invited to go deep into specific issues, plans, or dreams. We expect to host several breakout rooms including: Care Team/Wellness Networks; Tech collaborations; Regional Partnerships; Learning Games. We’ll see how we can develop more crystallized visions, then share them as a full group to close out the Summit.
There’s room for more, or for you to host a session or breakout. Email info@mutualaidnetwork.org with your ideas.
Hope to see you! And we'll record in case you have to miss it that weekend.
Take care,
Stephanie Rearick (Founder, Pres. of HUMANs and Madison MAN Coop)
