Seasoned filmmaker Steven McCurdy is a cultural documentarian and humanitarian who has directed and filmed in over 27 countries on five continents. His work tends to deal with human experience and personal connections.
My Private Italy documents McCurdy’s personal journey through northern Italy. The film takes its audience into the mountains, to a wedding in Livorno, and the workplace of a Venetian mask maker. It embraces the magic and beauty of everyday life in these northern towns and the charm of their people, bringing all of these to life.
An Italian-influenced buffet will be served at 5:30 p.m. at Varsity Hall for an additional $18. The wonderful Italian cuisine will help transport guests to the region, without ever leaving Wisconsin.
This showing is presented by the Wisconsin Union Directorate’s Performing Arts Committee and was supported in part by a grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the State of Wisconsin and the National Endowment for the Arts.
