The first concert of the 2015-16 concert series at Heritage Congregational Church will take place September 27, at 3:00 pm. This promises to be a wonderful concert. Admission is free and a reception will follow the program. Naeim (pronounced Nah-eem) Rahmani was born in Isfahan, Iran and immigrated to the United States, where he began to study classical guitar. He began his studies with Michael LeFevre and later studied under Michael Partington while a student at the University of Washington. Naeim graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in classical guitar performance in 2010. He recently graduated with a master’s degree in classical guitar performance from the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee, where he studied with renowned guitarist, Rene Izquierdo.
His recital program at Heritage Congregational Church will feature mostly classical music, including five Preludes by Heitor Villa-Lobos, Suite Castellana by F.M. Torroba, and Caprices by Luigi Legnani. He will also join forces with our own resident violinist on a couple of selections. If you would like to hear a sample of his artistry, just check out youtube:
In the summer of 2014, he performed a series of concerts in the north of Spain along the route of the Camino Santiago. The concerts, all held in local cathedrals, were sponsored by the Caminos Artes organization created by luthier Federico Sheppard and supported by the town of Carrión de los Condes. Most recently he was a finalist in several competitions, including the 2015 Northwest Guitar Festival and Competition, the San Francisco Bay Guitar Competition and the 2015 University of Louisville Guitar Festival and Competition. Naeim has performed in master classes for Eduardo Fernandez, David Russell, Göran Söllscher, and Jason Vieaux , among others. In 2009 Naeim travelled to Erlbach, Germany and studied under Eduardo Fernandez as part of the annual "Gitarre Und Natur" festival. He is an active performer and performs regularly around the Milwaukee area.
