No Regrets Epidemic Response: Making People Matter
UW Health Sciences Learning Center 750 Highland Ave. , Madison, Wisconsin
press release: Ebola Survivor Corps and the Havens Center for Social Justice present “No Regrets Epidemic Response: Making People Matter,” a talk with Dr. Lina Moses.
Dr. Lina Moses is an epidemiologist who worked tirelessly in Kenema, Sierra Leone during the West African Ebola epidemic. She serves on the Technical and Scientific Advisory board for Ebola Survivor Corps, and shares ESC’s passion for community-level solutions to complex health issues.
Moses will recount her year on the ground during the worst Ebola epidemic in history. She argues that Ebola Virus Disease doesn’t emerge out of the darkest reaches of the African jungle, but is a man-made disaster fueled by war, imbalanced economic development, and failed health systems. She will also propose ways for a more compassionate and effective epidemic response in an era where global health security, quarantines, and politics can take priority over individuals.
This talk is sponsored by the Ebola Survivor Corps, Havens Center for Social Justice, WORT 89.9 FM and the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.
