Opening Pathways
to
Verona Library 500 Silent St., Verona, Wisconsin 53593
press release: The Opening Pathways exhibit will be on display at the Verona Public Library from July 18-August 5. This series of life-size banners celebrate local Dane County ‘pathfinders’ and the 1-year anniversary of the release of the book Pathfinders: People with Developmental Disabilities and Their Allies Building Communities That Work Better for Everybody. Authors John O’Brien and Beth Mount are internationally respected thinkers who have showcased innovations born in Dane County in their writings and presentations.
For a generation, O’Brien and Mount have accompanied people with developmental disabilities, their families, and the partners who support them as they find diverse paths to social inclusion and self-direction. These ‘pathfinders’ journeys change organizations and build communities that work better for everyone. ‘Pathfinders’ is a title given to people with developmental disabilities who have opened pathways for their capacity and gifts to flow into their community. These ‘pathfinders’ stories help others see a way to similar places in our community.
Copies of Pathfinders have been made available to all Dane County Libraries by a gift from the Developmental Disabilities Network. For more information, visit www.ddnetworkinc.org.
This exhibit is free and open to the public. For information, visit www.veronapubliclibrary.org, or call 608-845-7180. The Verona Public Library is located at 500 Silent Street.
