Operation Fresh Start Open House
Celebrating completion of academy program expansion, 3-5:30 pm, 1/23, 2670 Milwaukee St.
media release: Join us for an open house to celebrate the expansion of our facility, built by OFS Tier 1 Build Academy crews! The expansion was funded through a $3.3 million Wisconsin Workforce Innovation Grant awarded by the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) and the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD).
Operation Fresh Start’s Build and Conservation Academy program is one of 12 statewide programs funded through the Workforce Innovation Grant in January 2022. This initiative addresses regional workforce challenges by offering industry-focused instruction that leads to family-supporting employment for individuals aged 18–24 in the construction and land management fields. To date, 144 young adults have completed programming during the current 2.5-year grant cycle.
What to Expect:
- Tour our newly expanded offices, classrooms, and construction workspace.
- Meet the talented young adults who helped bring this project to life.
- Learn about OFS programs empowering emerging adults through education, mentorship, and employment training.
Remarks Around 4:00 PM:
• WEDC Secretary and Ceo Missy Hughes
• Dane County Executive Melissa Agard
• OFS Staff and Build Academy participants
• Brian McMahon, Executive Director of Operation Fresh Start
This milestone reflects our commitment to creating opportunities and addressing workforce challenges for young adults. Don’t miss this chance to connect and support the amazing work being done at OFS!
