Our Needs at This Time: Moving Beyond Rejection
Arts + Literature Laboratory 111 S. Livingston St., Madison, Wisconsin 53703
press release: Every writer is familiar with the endless wait for responses on submissions and the sheer volume of rejections this industry manages to produce. What is happening on the other side of that Submittable queue or email? And how do you stay resilient when there are so few spots for so many submissions? Michelle Wildgen is a novelist and a longtime editor who can tell you about both sides of the desk. She will offer an overview of the road a submission might take for a journal like Tin House, describe a few do’s and don’t’s for submitting your work, and talk about how to balance your writing with your publishing and stay positive throughout. Then we’ll open it up to questions from the minute to the big picture, so come ready to ask them.
This program is part of our DRAW: Developing Resiliency in Artists + Writers series which is made possible by a grant from Madison Arts Commission.
