Panda Bear
media release; Panda Bear announced a new round of US tour dates in support of his new album Sinister Grift. The cross-country September and October tour includes headlining dates at Queens, NY’s Knockdown Center and Los Angeles’ Fonda Theatre, as well as previously announced appearances at Woodsist Festival in Accord, NY, Philadelphia’s Making Time ∞, and Austin City Limits Music Festival. He will follow the US tour with a new round of dates across Europe in October and November.
Panda Bear also shared “Virginia Tech,” a track previously only released on the B-side of the 7-inch of Sinister Grift’s lead single “Defense.” The song features Noah Lennox’s Animal Collective bandmate and Sinister Grift co-producer Josh “Deakin” Dibb on synthesizer and percussion as well as additional production by Daniel Lopatin.
Sinister Grift is out now on Domino and has been hailed by critics across the board as “his most straightforwardly beautiful record—and also his most emotionally complex” (Pitchfork Best New Music), “a new period of real inspiration for Lennox” (NPR), “his catchiest solo tracks to date” (The Needle Drop), and “the most pellucid and poignant album of Lennox’s career” (GQ).
