Peter and Will Anderson are one of the most extraordinary set of brothers performing music today. Known for their unique renditions of classic jazz songs and innovative original music, they hail from Washington, DC, but moved to New York City to attend Juilliard. Peter and Will have performed with the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, Village Vanguard Orchestra, Jimmy Heath Big Band, Wycliffe Gordon, Cecile McLorin Salvant, Paquito D’Rivera, Kenny Barron, Bob Wilber, Albert “Tootie” Heath, live on Garrison Keillor’s Prairie Home Companion, and are featured on the 2014 Grammy Winning Soundrack of HBO’s Boardwalk Empire with Vince Giordano’s Nighthawks.
The Anderson’s have headlined at The Blue Note, Jazz at Lincoln Center, The Kennedy Center, New Orleans Jazz Festival, Sarasota Florida Jazz Festival, South Carolina’s Jazz Corner, Seattle’s Triple Door, Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center, DC’s Blues Alley, and Arizona Music Festival. Their ensemble has performed in over 40 U.S. States, toured Japan, and featured four times in NYC’s famed “Highlights in Jazz” series, alongside Lou Donaldson, Ken Peplowski, and Warren Vache. As guest clinicians, Peter and Will have visited Temple debut release from 2012, Correspondence, features Kenny Barron and University, Xavier University, University of South Florida, University of Central Oklahoma, Florida State University, Ohio State University, Michigan State University, University of Scranton and others.

ABOUT ALEX WINTZ, GUITARIST: Alex Wintz is quickly becoming a name in the international jazz community. At a young age he had already had the opportunity to perform across the country and around the world including Europe, Asia, South America, major U.S. clubs, and world renown jazz festivals including Monterrey, The Montreal, Montreux, Rochester, and Newport Jazz to name a few.
Born in California and raised in New Jersey, Alex began playing guitar at an early age. Alex graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Berklee College of Music in May 2010. Awards and recognition achieved include National Foundation of the Arts ARTS Award winner, Clifford Brown/Stan Getz Fellowship All Star, Most Outstanding Jazz Soloist in High School Category in the Downbeat Music Awards, Berklee Guitar Achievement Award, and Semi-Finalist in the Montreux Jazz Guitar Competition and Detroit Jazz Festival Competition. Alex attended NJPAC’s Jazz for Teens program from 2001 – 2006. Alex has already appeared on over two dozen recordings. Current regular groups and collaborators include Etiene Charles and Creole soul, Ben Williams and Sound Effect, Roxy Coss Quintet, Peter and Will Trio, Lucas Pino Nonet, Nick Finzer Sextet, Dave Baron Quintet, and his own private projects.
“Jazz on a Sunday” is presented by Madison Music Collective (MMC) in partnership with the Madison Jazz Society. Madison Music Collective is a non-profit membership organization founded in 1985 that works to build a thriving creative music community in the Greater Madison area by growing the local audience for jazz and other forms of improvised music. MMC offers a seasonal series of concerts and educational programs, as well concerts featuring local, regional, and nationally known jazz artists.
