Race and Health: Stories of Inequality
On Oct. 29th from 6-8 PM, in a TED-talk style event, public health experts and minority health workers with UW-Madison will speak for 10-15 minutes each on the subject of the intersection of race and health. After the panel there will be a moderated discussion and advocacy fair. The 5 distinguished speakers participating in the event are Dr. Patrick Remington--an expert in population health and local disparities, Dr. Edward Vargas who works with Latina women, Dr. Beverly Hutchinson who researchers barriers to access faced by African American women, as well as Dr. Bret Benally Thompson and Dr. Christine Athmann, both of whom work with the local Native American populations. This event is hosted by Partners in Health Engage Madison in collaboration with several other student organizations.
Our panelists are local and have been asked to share stories of how their research applies to the Greater Madison area. You may be surprised at the inequity happening in your own backyard.
This event is free and open to the greater Madison community, but space is limited, so please register at: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/race-health-stories-of-inequity-tickets-19004834973
