A Room of One's Own is delighted to host a soiree for UW Madison feminist faculty celebrating the release of new books!
Ramzi Fawaz is Assistant Professor of English and Affiliate Faculty in the Department of Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at UW Madison. His first book, The New Mutants: Superheroes and the Radical Imagination of American Comics won the Center for Lesbian and Gay Studies Fellowship Award for best first book in LGBT Studies.
Lori Kido Lopez is an Assistant Professor of Media and Cultural Studies in the Department of Communication Arts at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is also affiliate faculty in Asian American Studies and Gender and Women's Studies. She celebrates the release of her book Asian American Media Activism: Fighting for Cultural Citizenship.
Kate Vieira is assistant professor of English at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Currently a National Academic of Education/Spencer post-doctoral fellow, she is an ethnographer of immigration and literacy in the U.S., Brazil, and Latvia. Her new book, American by Paper, is about the role of legal papers in immigrant lives.
Timothy Yu is the author of 100 Chinese Silences (Les Figues) and Race and the Avant-Garde: Experimental and Asian American Poetry since 1965 (Stanford), and the editor of Nests and Strangers: On Asian American Women Poets (Kelsey Street). He is associate professor of English and Asian American studies and director of the Asian American Studies Program at UW-Madison.
