Get ready for a night of creativity and fun at Madison Reading Project’s annual READ(y) to Wear fundraiser, supporting free literacy resources to the greater Dane County area. This design competition brings together teams of artists and students in collaboration with local businesses and nonprofits to dream up paper fashion creations inspired by the theme “Legends and Fairytales.” Teams compete for the coveted best-in-show title chosen by celebrity judges. With Bianca Lynn Breeze, Rowan Childs and Jason Ilstrup returning as an emcee team. The evening promises entertainment and unforgettable designs.

The paper dress/fashion design competition honors this year’s theme, “Legends and Fairytales.” Design teams of students, businesses, artists, and local nonprofits will create and strut their paper fashions under The Sylvee spotlights, with a nod to the reality TV show “Project Runway.” Expect original designs incorporating all kinds of paper materials. You will be amazed!
Teams will take to the runway with fans enthusiastically cheering as they lobby for votes by the celebrity judges for their favorites and best-in-show bragging rights.
Jason Ilstrup, president of Downtown Madison Inc., Bianca Lynn Breeze, a nationally honored drag queen, and Rowan Childs,our co-executive director, will host - this is the third year of this trio hosting together.
“READ(y) to Wear is certainly a memorable, one-of-a-kind fundraising event,” says Rowan Childs, co-executive director/founder. “The design class is working hard to wow you with their paper designs and talent. You’ll see some returning teams, new artists, and some new collaborations. Come ready to expect the unexpected! Funds raised will allow us to continue providing free resources to children, families, and educators in the greater Dane County area.”
