press release: Learn first-hand how people have impacted Wisconsin through their science, art, and writing at the Real Life Library experience at the Verona Public Library on Saturday, May 18, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Inspired by the Human Library Project, the Real Life Library is a unique storytelling and listening event that gives community members an opportunity to listen and learn from other people’s stories.
Fellows of the Wisconsin Academy for Sciences, Arts, and Letters will act as live “books” that attendees can “check-out and read”, listening to each person’s real-life story. Check-out listening sessions are at 11:30 a.m., and 12:00, 1:30, and 2 p.m. Community gathering and reflections of the stories will be at 12:30 and 2:30 p.m.
Each check-out lasts no more than 20 minutes. Attendees can drop in any time during the event or stay the entire time and hear multiple stories. Children are welcome; children 12 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Refreshments will be available.
This free event is produced in collaboration with WHOA!: We Help One Another and Wisconsin Academy of Sciences, Arts, & Letters. This event is made possible by a grant from Dane Arts. Learn more at wehelponeanother.com.
