“Using the simple elements of colored paper and glue, I create torn-paper collages I call ‘Landscapes of Wonder.’ Inspired primarily by the childlike desire to play with colors and shapes, I enjoy working intuitively and taking advantage of serendipitous accidents. Again and again I am drawn to elements of landscape – trees, bodies of water, mountains, birds, skies, and the occasional human – altered in mysterious or whimsical ways. Within the internal logic of these imaginary worlds, I seek balance and harmony and beauty.” – Richard Ely
