Sean Rowe
press release: Sean Rowe stands amid the crowd, an able and imposing figure. He carries within him a deep, resounding voice honed upon the earth that sounds as much a part of the land as the songs he writes. Influenced early in life by the music of Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Marvin Gaye, and Ray Charles, Rowe’s musical intensity allowed him to study the footprints of blues and soul legends while building a catalogue from which he could perform hours at a time from the age of eighteen.
While in his teens, Rowe also encountered the work of naturalist Tom Brown, whose book The Tracker deeply affected Rowe and sent him through two wilderness survival schools where his songwriting also flurished. Five full-length album releases later, Rowe hit his stride with New Lore (2017).
“For a vocalist who's range is so deep (although Sean sings some sweet falsetto on "The Salmon!"), the instrumentation around him easily dances along. This album is riddled with intricate, interesting surprises that'll reel you deeper into Sean Rowe's fascinating world.” -- Cindy Howes, Folk Alley
