press release: In partnership with the Wisconsin Film Festival, the library is pleased to present a screening of SING STREET. This film delighted audiences at the 2016 Wisconsin Film Festival. It is being presented at Alicia Ashman Library free of charge. Run time is 106 minutes. “Dublin, 1985. While Ireland is in the grips of a recession, 14-year-old Conor is transferred to a tough school on Synge Street. Facing strains at home and trying to find his place in a new environment, Conor, under the mentorship of his music-loving older brother, forms a band…Sing Street is a nostalgic, yet accurate musical featuring wonderful pastiches of 80s pop songs that evoke the stylings of Duran Duran, Hall and Oates and other hitmakers.
