The Soul Doctors
Madison quartet The Soul Doctors are showcasing a new EP, aptly titled Emergence, which will be available on CD at this concert. Featuring four original songs recorded at Madtown Mix Studio, it makes for a great introduction to the group's mix of rock, blues and country, topped by the soulful vocal style of Kelly Hepper.
press release: Four years after their inception, the Soul Doctors are releasing debut studio work entitled “Emergence” on July 30, 2021, at The Bur Oak. Tickets are $10, doors at 7pm, show at 8pm.
The title of this release is layered with meaning. It reflects not only the sensation coming out of COVID or the fact that this feels like a long-overdue milestone for some members, but more importantly it’s the idea that a group’s collective properties emerge when the parts interact as a greater whole. The sum is greater than the individual parts! The Soul Doctors live shows offer a thoughtfully composed tonic of blues, rock, folk, pop, country, jazz & soul that is sure to revitalize you!
Songs released in this collection are "Been Through Fire,” “Reckless Heart,” “Serpent King” and “Merry-Go-Round” of which all are originals. Working closely with their producer, Matt LaPlant of Madtown Mix Studio, plays an essential part in the overall sound of this studio work. The Soul Doctors won the adult category for Overture’s Rising Stars competition in the fall of 2019 with their song, “Rise Up.” In the summer 2020 they placed third in the battle of the bands music video competition held by the non-profit, Music Makes a Difference with their music videos for “Been Through Fire” and “Folsom Prison,” which will be officially released as a single in August.
