WHAT TO DO: Sound and vision

It’s not surprising that scientists study and explore vision, but musicians? Learn more at December’s installment of the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation’s SoundWaves series. “The Vision Thing: Putting It Into Perspective” will look at how our eyes and brains work together to interpret the world. Music on the theme is by pianist Christopher Taylor and series curator Daniel Grabois.

SoundWaves. The Vision Thing: Putting It into Perspective  

How and what do we see? How do we use our eyes – and brains – to interpret the world around us? How do we see invisible things? Can we see dark matter? What is the sound of a painting? Join UW–Madison scholars Karen Schloss, Bas Rokers, Duncan Carlsmith, Kevin Eliceiri, Christopher Taylor and Daniel Grabois as they explore vision.  

7:30 – 9 p.m. (cash bar opens at 7 p.m.)
