Special Olympics Wisconsin District Basketball Tournament

press release: More than 250 Special Olympics Wisconsin (SOWI) athletes, 100 volunteers, and 90 coaches will participate at the Basketball Competition. Basketball teams will compete in the tournament, each team playing twice during the day. The tournament has been held in Verona for six years, thanks to local support. Badgers for Special Olympics from UW-Madison will be there cheering on athletes, and the Verona Area High School Girls’ Basketball team volunteers their time to score the tournament.
Physical therapy students from UW-Madison will be on-hand for an education station featuring proper conditioning and stretching techniques as a Healthy Habits initiative. Stations on hydration and healthy snacking will also have information on hand for athletes, parents and coaches.
The event serves as a qualifier for the sectional basketball tournament held in Stevens Point on March 20, 2016.
The Opening Ceremony starts at 8:30 a.m.
