Stand With Palestine
to
Tenney Park 1500 Sherman Ave., Madison, Wisconsin 53703
media release: Mourn the heartbreaking loss of life and recognize the steadfast resilience of families throughout 75 years of occupation.
Hear and share news of the assault on Gaza.
Send support by purchasing Palestinian made crafts and olive oil, donating to relief efforts, and sponsoring an olive tree in the Madison-Masafer Yatta grove to replace those being destroyed in the West Bank.
Art supplies will be available for making a sign, and we'll be serving hot tea, bread, olive oil and olives.
Event will conclude with a public vigil.
Sponsored by Madison-Rafah Sister City Project, Palestine Partners, Madison Playgrounds for Palestine, and Madison Jewish Voice for Peace.
This gathering will be in support of Palestinian steadfastness in the face of every effort to deprive them of their dignity, human rights and land -- and for thousands, their lives.
We will be covering the murderous assault taking place on Gaza, including the cutting off of food, power and water to 2.3 million trapped people (which has already killed at least 1,587 people including 447 children, and injured over 6,000 more) and also how areas of the West Bank are being targeted right now for escalated ethnic cleansing while the world is largely looking elsewhere.
We had hoped to be celebrating the olive harvest at this event, but the olive harvest has been completely shut down and at least 1,000 trees in the Masafer Yatta area have been destroyed by rampaging settlers.
At Sunday's event, we will therefore be appealing for emergency relief funds for Gaza but also expanding our campaign to plant olive trees in the Madison-Masafer Yatta grove, and offering the opportunity to support Palestine through the purchase the Palestinian olive oil, olive oil soap, embroidery and other products that will support the livelihoods of Palestinian producers.
