Stop the Bleed
press release: The Dane County Sheriff’s Office and Dane County Emergency Management are partnering to offer “Stop the Bleed” trainings. These trainings are FREE and open to the public.
The American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma is leading the effort to save lives by teaching individuals how to provide vital initial response to stop uncontrolled bleeding in emergency situations. During the free “Stop the Bleed” training, you will learn how to recognize life-threatening bleeding, and appropriate ways to stop the bleeding. An immediate response can often make the difference between life and death, even before EMS or law enforcement arrives.
There is still space available at upcoming trainings, including:
April 8 at the Dane County Law Enforcement Training Center from 2-3:30 pm
June 4 at the Clarion Suites in Madison from 12-2 pm
August 20 at Life Church in Mt. Horeb from 10 am-12 pm
“Stop the Bleed” is a national awareness campaign and call-to-action. Just as we encourage citizens to become trained in CPR, we want to encourage citizens to become empowered if they were to find themselves in an emergency situation where someone is critically wounded. “Stop the Bleed” skills are great for day to day life. The majority of tourniquets applied in the state of Wisconsin were for industrial, farm, and household injuries.
