Striking 12
Cast/band members (from left): Jason MacPherson, Erin McConnell, Desmond Hawkins and Julia McConahay.
press release: MTM is presenting the Madison premiere of Striking 12, a non-denominational holiday musical about the power of love, compassion, and full spectrum holiday lightbulbs!
On New Year’s Eve, an over-worked and under-inspired single guy who’s had enough of holiday cheer has made a resolution to stay in. As he's regretting his life choices, a woman comes to the door selling “full-spectrum holiday light bulbs” to combat Seasonal Affective Disorder. Though the man (who probably could use the bulbs) seems to enjoy the young woman’s company, he sends her away. It’s not until he reads “The Little Match Girl” that he is finally pulled out of his funk.
What makes STRIKING 12 particularly special is its beautiful simplicity. The story is told by a quartet of actors who also play the instruments: Piano, guitar, drums, and violin.
