The band Summer 2000.
Summer 2000
The music of Summer 2000 can range from gentle acoustic folk to jangly emo-pop to a wall of electronic noise. The through line that pulls it all together is the emotional universe of ringleader Jacob R. West. This strong lineup also includes Milwaukee’s Bug Moment (who just released hyper-pop shaded EP The Lazer Collection on March 7) and Madison’s own Sex, Fear and Excuse Me, Who Are You?

BUG MOMENT is a Milwaukee based, queer emo-adjacent melancholia rock act made up of Jasmine Rosenblatt (vocals), Gray Edward (guitar), Elias Dorsey (bass) and Aidan Hoppens (drums). BUG MOMENT’S newest EP, The Lazer Collection, is slated to drop on March 7, 2025. In their latest effort, they seek to solidify their genre-bending sonic profile through on-grid, hyper-pop midi sections, followed by aggressive, domineering instrumental campaigns. Striking a balance between the “in your face” and the introspective, BUG MOMENT is intent on staking their claim in playlists and venues alike.
From the introspective lyrics and glitchy production found on their first EP “BUGS", to the wailing guitar riffs and momentous drum crescendos found on their debut LP ”The Flying Toad Circus”, BUG MOMENT aims to demonstrate the wide range of musical capability that occurs when their varying musical backgrounds collide. A blend of driving choruses, paired with soft melodic verses, this band set their sights on carving their unique sound into the music scene. With lyrical themes tackling queerness, angst, and self reflection, paired with elements of hyperpop and emo, BUG MOMENT isn't an act easily forgotten.
