Susan Orlean
Central Library 201 W. Mifflin St., Madison, Wisconsin 53703
In another great example of how the Wisconsin Book Festival is killing it all year long, Susan Orlean, one of the nation’s finest nonfiction writers, comes through town to share from her latest, The Library Book. It’s a history that also sets out to solve a mystery surrounding the 1986 fire at the Los Angeles Public Library. Orlean, a staff writer at The New Yorker, is author of The Orchid Thief, which was made into the Oscar-winning film Adaptation. It’s nice to recall a ravishing Meryl Streep playing Orlean (as she did in the movie) but we’re curious about the real person.
